Last thing you need

The last thing you would need, is the raw_steel_6.mp4 available from Theme Park Review

These guys supply the first person camera view of a slew of roller coasters, and it’s the source material that I used for creating my entry.

What motion software did you use? Simtools or x-sim? ; Recorded the code on arduino?

Thank you in advance and I await a response as soon as possible.

    • Nicola- neither. Everything was written from scratch. Servo control for the coaster is controlled by a text file, indexed by time, that runs on the PC. When changes in motion are required (by time) the positional information (and speed) is sent from the PC to the coaster which just blindly follows that command.

  2. nicola says:

Ok, but you do not use any software to make the motion?

  3. nicola says:

How did you make the simulator make the move? Can you please send me a step-by-step tutorial?

I want to set up a simulator just like yours to make my childrens happy.

Good afternoon, is not the step by step assembly of the simulator, what I asked you was the step by step installation of the codes on the pc for the simulator make the motion

    • All of the source code I wrote is available here as well. Check for “Roller Coaster Application code”, “bullduino source code” (which is really just an arduino sketch) and “individual coaster control files” are all available on this blog in plain text.

One note: I developed this in Linux. The code is regular old ANSI C so it’ll be portable if you want to port to windows, but you’ll need to deal with mplayer on windows as well as serial port stuff (posix serial port control is easy).
