Roller Coaster Party Simulator – Baby Steps

My 6 year old son LOVES roller coasters, even though he’s hardly ridden any.  We’ve been to Disney, and his favorite roller coaster is always the one he’s just finished riding.  Right now I think it’s Splash Mountain.

At any rate, he attended a birthday at Chuck E. Cheese’s, and they had a 2 seat roller coaster simulator.  Well, the colors were messed up, it kept freezing, and even when it worked, it wasn’t much fun for the audience, since the screen was mounted as part of the car in front of the riders.

I thought “I could do better than that” so I went looking for point of view film of roller coaster rides.  Here’s where I found it:

Just my luck- they had downloadable versions for cheap!  Looks like I’m off to make a roller coaster simulator!Image

  1. Matt Gorres says:

There is a roller coaster simulation called NoLimits. Your son might enjoy using it.

There is also RollerCoaster Tycoon (1, 2, 3), which can let your son build a theme park from scratch and/or follow a set of objectives.

  2. Thank you Matt- excellent suggestions. We have mostly moved away from the roller coaster simulation scene- I’ve recently built up a 3D printer, and the kids are currently (with some help) designing some new toys using Openscad.
